Kosher Entertainment

What exactly is ‘Kosher Entertainment’?

It’s entertainment designed for a sophisticated kosher audience.  All too often the concepts of ‘kosher’ and ‘entertainment’ pull against each other.  If it’s entertaining, then it’s probably not too kosher – and if it’s too kosher, then the chances are it got there at the sacrifice of being entertaining.

The universe of HaGibor is born from a kosher world view, where the fantastic fantasy are explained not by some form of new super-science, like the central character being the last son of a dying planet sent in a rocket ship to earth and gaining incredible powers from our yellow sun, or being bitten by a radio active centerpede. But rather by Torah based concepts instead, with roots firmly based in the Talmud and chazal.

How exactly?

Well, you’ll have to read the first issue and find out.

Every issue is passed through a review process by our rabbinical advisory board to ensure that all the concepts within, whilst being fantasy, are consistent with a mainstream Torah view of the world, and the narrative is appropriate for an approximate Bar Mitzvah audience, broadly fitting into the guidelines of PG-13.

Educational

Every issue of HaGibor is bilingual, making it the perfect launching pad to learn English or Hebrew.

The most effective education comes when it’s not education at all, but rather part of an engaging narrative.  So, in addition to the obvious benefits of being bilingual, every issue is jam packed with important Torah concepts and Jewish history.

Like all of us, our characters are faced with real, every day moral issues – and like us they run through a thought process of what the right thing is that they should do. They consider what the halacha and the ratzon Hashem would be in each instance, regardless of if it’s working out what to do with a found object, or city block being hurled into the heart of the sun.

Names from Chazal become real, and tangible people for our readers, as our history is explored and our characters meet and interact with sages. Learning becomes fresh and alive as we get to learn who people like Rabbi Eliezar or Rish Lakish were, and how they related to one and other.

A central concept running through all Achdut Entertainment products is the abiding need for Ahavat Yisrael and Achdut Yisrael, as an ongoing expression of Avodat Hashem.
